Filling station in Nnewi, Anambra gutted by fire this morning (photos)

Two filling stations, Organiser and Red filling station at located Amunko, Nnewi Okpuno Nnewichi in Anambra state, was razed to the ground this morning after an explosion...suspected to have been caused by a fuel tanker. Fire service and police are currently at the location to deal with the situation. Not sure of casualties... hopefully, there isn't any. More photos after the cut...

Buhari mourns Anambra gas victims

Abuja –  President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep regret over the loss of lives following Thursday’s gas explosion at an industrial complex in Nnewi, Anambra. A statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said the president was greatly shaken and shocked by such large-scale loss of human lives in a single industrial accident. According to the statement, Buhari cast a gloom on the families of the victims “who were looking forward to a joyous Christmas celebration’’.
